James M. Winning

About

Mr. Winning started his working career in the Legislative Reference Bureau of the Illinois General Assembly in 1948. He later served as the Parliamentarian to the Speaker of the Illinois House of Representatives from 1951 to 1956. In 1956, he joined his father, Montgomery Winning, in private legal practice at Giffin, Winning, Lindner & Newkirk as an associate. He became a partner of the firm in 1959 and actively guided the firm from the early-1970s to 1994 when he retired from the active practice of law. Many of our current partners credit Mr. Winning as their mentor and role model. Mr. Winning remains a valuable resource to the firm and shares his wisdom with us as needed.
